Pave Ring Settings 

Pave ring settings are widely popular for solitaire engagement rings and bridal rings. Most women love this type of setting because it seems more feminine, especially for ring designs that have small shoulders and small gem stones. A pave diamond ring setting incorporates a larger center stone above the encrusted diamonds, typically in high prong engagement settings. Pave settings use only tiny beads, or minute prongs that resemble little claws with a vice-like grip. The prongs are then bent over the girdle of the stone to ensure its secure position. An illusion of a solid diamond surface rather than a metal band is produced by the applicability of the pave setting. Most jewelers prefer to use white gold or platinum when making pave settings in order to further minimize the appearance of the metal. Yellow gold however can add a look of traditional elegance to a pave mounting as well. The end result with this mirage of free-standing diamonds flashing their brilliance is the impression that your ring is completely paved with diamonds.
